UK Buggy Race Report

Date: March 12th/13th 2005.
Location: Hoylake Beach, Wirral, Nr Liverpool
Race HQ: Wirral Sandyacht Club
Organiser: PKA. (Parakarting Association UK) National & Club Series

Race Plan:
Saturday - Min of 3 x 3 lap Races
Sunday - Min of 3 x 3 lap Races

Saturday - A very windy / gusty day with kite sizes of 2.0m - 3.0m being the
predominate choice. Any bigger and you would have OOBE' d big time! (And
some did!)

It was a tricky course to get round considering the wind and the gusts,
later on, took a few by surprise!

Everyone seemed to have a good day, except for the casualties, with most
settling down early for the night. (Unusual that!)

Results - National Series Club Series
1/ Simon Bosworth 1/ Jason Davis
2/ Graham Steel 2/ Craig Wannacot
3/ Peter Swan 3/ Matt Chamberlain

Sunday - Now you need to remember that this part of the UK, in March, is a
desolate, cold, unattractive place...but not today!
The sun was out, there was no wind, and it was a T-shirt day?
(The world's weather is now an even more peculiar phenomenon!!! )

So no racing took place, and to make matters worse, no one had any suntan
lotion / block!

A new Kite from PKD was flown later, the "Combat" which as a race kite
supersedes the "Century". The 7.5m raced well in the light winds. These were
organised for fun by a few who stayed after the majority had left. We will
watch with anticipation to see if it gives the Ozone "Razor" a hard time?
